RAY LUONGO (2nd Degree)
Mr. Luongo was a professional chef until he discovered the art of Taekwon-Do and teaching children.
Originally from Brooklyn, NY, he moved to the Midwest in 1994 to study the art of French cuisine in Wheeling, IL, but
instead began studying the Korean martial art of Taekwon-Do with Grandmaster Han, Cha Kyo, his first instructor. This
encounter changed his life dramatically. Mr. Luongo received his First Degree Black Belt in 1998 and began teaching for
Mr. Earl Weiss (7th Degree, ITF) in Skokie, IL. Mr. Luongo has since trained closely with Master Paul Irvin (7th Degree),
and Instructor Bruce Helman (6th degree), as well as Instructors Joel Winograd (6th Degree) and Dr. Lonna Brooks (5th Degree).
He received his second degree in June 2003. Aside from teaching Taekwon-Do all over Madison, Mr. Luongo works as an
Educational Assistant at Mendota Elementary School with one of his mentors, Principal Sandy Gunderson, and her
outstanding staff.
